Tree Planting
The purpose of the Ridgway Park project was to return the grass areas to its natural state. Here is the 3rd phase of planting trees at Ridgway Park in Hampton. The 1st Phase was the planting in the main part of the park by Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. In the 2nd phase Cub Scouts planted in the buffer zone by Foxhill Rd. who worked in the rain. This 3rd phase involved the US Navy completing the planting of the trees. Now, the City will move back the mowing to allow the native plants take back the area. This will supply a sound/sight buffer between the roadway and the park. Also, a large amount of trash was picked up by the Sailors. The job got done and the Sailors and Scouts learned about the need of natural protection to the parks we enjoy.
